NISPHFA Inspects 15 Health Facilities in Kuta, Demands Better Hygiene to Protect Patients

The Niger State Private Health Facilities Agency (NISPHFA) has inspected 15 health facilities in Kuta, Shiroro Local Government Area, as part of efforts to protect residents from unsafe healthcare practices and improve the quality of services available to patients.

The inspection identified the need for improved infection prevention and environmental hygiene across the facilities visited. The Agency said addressing the gaps is essential to protecting patients, healthcare workers and visitors from avoidable infections and other health risks.

NISPHFA urged the affected facilities to immediately strengthen their infection control measures and maintain cleaner, safer and more hygienic environments for healthcare delivery.

The Agency stressed that poor sanitation and weak infection prevention practices in health facilities can expose patients particularly those already vulnerable due to illness to additional health risks. Improving these standards will therefore contribute to safer treatment and greater public confidence in healthcare services.

All 15 facilities were directed to address the identified deficiencies within the stipulated period. The Agency will conduct follow-up inspections after 21 days to assess compliance and ensure that the required improvements have been made.

The exercise is part of NISPHFA’s ongoing regulatory efforts to ensure that private health facilities operating across Niger State meet minimum standards for safe and quality healthcare delivery.

The Agency encouraged residents of Shiroro and other parts of the State to seek care from properly regulated health facilities and to report facilities or practices that may put patients at risk.

NISPHFA restates that its inspections are aimed not only at enforcing regulations but also at ensuring that residents can access healthcare in environments that are safe, hygienic and fit for healthcare delivery.
