IGP Disu Presents ₦2.32bn Welfare Benefits to Families of Fallen Officers

Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu has presented cheques worth ₦2.317 billion to 2,971 beneficiaries and next-of-kin of police officers who died in service.

The payments cover beneficiaries under the Group Life Assurance, Group Personal Accident and IGP Family Welfare Schemes for several insurance policy years, including outstanding balances recovered from insurance companies after earlier partial settlements.

Disu said the payments were not merely financial benefits but part of the Nigeria Police Force’s responsibility to families of officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the country.

The IGP reaffirmed welfare as a priority of his administration, promising continued efforts to improve personnel welfare, working conditions, healthcare, accommodation and other legitimate benefits for officers and their families.

He also directed the Force Insurance Unit to intensify awareness campaigns to ensure officers and their families understand their insurance entitlements and how to access them.
