CJTF-TF SEEKS GOVERNMENT, NGO SUPPORT FOR COMMUNITY HEALTHCARE

The Citizen Joint Tactical Formation (CJTF-TF) Nigeria has announced plans to establish community medical support partnerships across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.

The organisation said the initiative is aimed at providing basic medical support to its volunteer personnel while extending free or subsidised healthcare services to underserved communities.

The announcement was contained in a public statement signed by the organisation’s Commander General and National Coordinator, Tanimu Shehu.

According to the statement, the proposed initiative would focus on primary emergency care, medical rehabilitation and treatment for CJTF-TF volunteers who may sustain injuries while carrying out what the organisation described as community intelligence and support activities.

The organisation said the programme would also provide basic healthcare services to residents of underserved rural and urban communities.

CJTF-TF said all proposed community health facilities and outreach activities would operate in accordance with the standards of relevant State Ministries of Health and local health authorities.

It added that clinical services, triage and treatment would be handled by qualified and licensed healthcare professionals.

The organisation also described itself as a voluntary and auxiliary civic organisation, stating that it does not claim statutory medical or security powers.

As part of the initiative, CJTF-TF appealed to the Federal and State Governments, non-governmental organisations, international development organisations, healthcare charities and philanthropic institutions to support the programme.

The organisation requested assistance in the form of medical equipment and supplies, including trauma kits, emergency transport vehicles, patient beds, basic diagnostic equipment and essential medicines.

It also called for partnerships with existing public hospitals, primary healthcare centres and accredited private medical facilities, as well as technical assistance and healthcare training for its field first responders.

On accountability, CJTF-TF said all grants, equipment and other material assistance received for the initiative would be administered through its stated corporate trustee channels and subjected to administrative oversight.

The organisation said the proposed programme was part of its broader civic welfare objectives and was intended to expand access to basic healthcare services in communities with limited medical resources.
